| I began to get interested in creating sculptured works in 1992 as I was manipulating the semi abstracted landscapes I was working on. First, I began to add wood to the outside edges of the canvas, to alter the recognizable shape of the rectangles. The intent was to go beyond the standard line of the canvas and still maintain a flat surface. This eventually led me to start to look at the negative space in the work as air and as a result, to open the space up and use the air and shadows that were created by light as part of the piece. These pieces are a sample of some of the results. |
