“Abstraction demands a tremendous degree of courage. While given license to invent a world, the visual artist must stride into the unknown, without objective measurement against something being represented. What is produced may be only a chimera --  an imaginary space, an emotional climate. It must stand on its own and offer a strong vision.

Sortino does this by extending an invitation to possibility and openness. He approaches each canvas as a field of action, claiming it by subdividing it into a kind of window. "Feelings in Time" reveals a plain on which the laws of physics are perhaps quite different from those we generally inhabit, similar to what happened in many of Salvador Dali's canvases. "Honeysuckle" reveals an optimistic architecture of growth and decay. In the lyrical "Feathers,"  leaves make lively gestures flanked by patches of deep red. “ -Marina deBellagente LaPalma
